Accessories, cocktails, and shopping with my girlfriends…

Last week I hosted a small jewelry and accessory show at my house. Many of you already know that I’m an accessories hoarder. I love collecting handbags and high-end costume jewelry especially the better quality brands. My fashion retail management, merchandising, and buying background is heavy in accessories. Over the years I’ve been invited to my fair share of “in home” jewelry parties. And to be honest, I never really gave them much thought since I was working for brands that had their own accessories. As a fashion blogger and freelance fashion stylist, I’m always on the hunt for the latest in fashion. Discovering established brands with which I’m unfamiliar with is exciting to share with my readers. So when I started to hearing major buzz about the Stella & Dot brand it was to hard too ignore.

I decided to do some research on the company, their jewelry, design philosophy, and the mission behind the successful brand. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the concepts of selling and impressed with the quality and of the jewelry itself.  The next logical step was to host trunk show for my friends, family, and fellow jewelry lovers. The date was set and all I had to do was open yup my home, provide light refreshments, and we were set to shop.

I had my very own jewelry boutique for 2 hours right there at my house. It was the total opposite of any home show I had ever attended, or hosted for that matter. It was exactly like being invited to a private VIP party at your favorite store or boutique. There was no hard sell, just some information about some specials and discounted items. Everyone had a blast shopping and socializing with old and new friends. And best of all, the guests got tips on layering & styling different pieces from the collection. Many of the Stella & Dot pieces, can be worn many different ways. One necklace is called the 7 way necklace, because you can remove sections to create different looks for many occasions.  Mixing and layering is a major part of the brands design and creative message.

What can you expect if you decide to host a show?  Even though the  stylist does come to your house there’s no pressure to buy product, book a trunk show, or become a member of the sales team. In fact, if someone is interested in becoming a part of the Stella & Dot team, they are trained as a stylist not a salesperson. That’s a major plus, because no one likes being pressured to buy when they are catching up over a glass of wine surrounded by sparkling jewelry and gorgeous handbags.

The stylist will give you the option to keep the show open for an additional week or 2 for guests that could not attend the trunk show. A link is embedded in the original invitation that takes them to the ecommerce site to place and pay for their order in the hostesses show.

If a guest wants to host their own trunk show, they can then talk to the stylist at any time and set up a date for a future show. No pressure, no pain, just cocktails and shopping.

xo,
