Wedding Season is officially here, and you’ve been invited to your friends wedding in Jamacia. Of course, you are planning to attend the nuptials; nothing would keep you from missing your BFF say I DO.
And, what could be better than celebrating with your besties and your hubby, while catching some R & R beach side? Enjoy dinner on the beach with friends, and a huge celebration with lots of couples, cake, cocktails, dancing, and sunshine. Yes, destination weddings are what I like to call, “Adult Spring Break.” But, before you jet off to paradise, you have to decide what to pack. Ughh!
The best way to keep from overpacking is to make a list of the number of days you will be traveling, and why. Traveling to a destination wedding means figuring out what you are going to wear to the ceremony and reception. If you are unsure, ask the bride if she can share more details on the timing of the actual ceremony and the reception.
Nowadays, guests will change into something more comfortable for the reception or vice versa, depending on the formality of the wedding and timing of photos. But, as a general rule of thumb, you should always err on the side of cocktail over casual when deciding what to wear.
There will be plenty of time to wear flip flops and cover-ups, when you are beach or poolside, so leave those in the room for another day.
Be sure to check on the resort website for any dress code restrictions they may enforce in the restaurants or on the compound. If the resort has a dinner dress code, it is usually nothing more than business casual preferred.
Swimwear and cover-ups will be essential on your trip. If you plan to do any excursions, you may want to pack more than just bikinis. A one- piece, or a tankini are good options. Toiletries can get very expensive to buy at the resort so pack your own Sunblock and some type tote to use when you hit the pool or beach.
Other essentials you will want to take with are quality sunglasses, a neutral pair of flat sandals, a pair of basic flip flops, a foldable sunhat, a scarf or sweater for cooler nights, and a few tiny pieces of costume jewelry to accessorize.
