New beginnings at Louis Vuitton…

The Louis Vuitton Fall 2014 RTW collection was one of the highly anticipated shows at Paris Fashion Week. Nicolas Ghesquière, the new head designer, paid homage to the historical brand, yet breathed fresh life into the collection. The former Balenciaga creative director had some “big shoes” to fill following his predecessor’s work Marc Jacobs. Although both designers have proven staying power with 15 & 16 years each at their former houses.

The collection was filled with luxurious wearable fabrics typical of the brand, with a dedicated focus in leathers and techno fabrics. A color palette of sky blue, orange, camel, and black & white, dominated the collection. The designer approached the collection with a simple, timeless ease, devoid of elaborate themes and inspiration. He was  able to incorporate the luxury and principals that are the foundation of the LV trademark and incorporate his architectural modern esthetic to the collection. The response to his first collection was a huge success, and has many insiders hedging their bets on his next collection.

BRAVO Monsieur Ghesquière!

xo,

BDG
