This season the “Ruff” boys, Brian Wolk and Claude Monais delivered their Fall 2014 collection entitled “THE RAPTURE” based on the early 15th century Flemish painter Petrus Christus. Religious figures and mythical creatures were often subjects of artist’s in that time. The designers indicated that they “explored monastic opulence, tailored volume, and somber religious silhouettes.” I would say that I disagree with later, because the collection was anything but somber. The duo referenced the inspiration but channeled their respective design aesthetics.

The designers chose luxurious fabrics in silk chiffon, organza, and taffeta, in rich pigmented colors, inspired by the colors of the paintings. The dominant colors in the collection were black and white, with pops of cardinal red, bright chartreuse, and wedgewood blue.

The volume of the silhouettes remained modern and relevant with impeccable tailoring on the pieces. Delicate smocking on necklines added lady like touches and sensibility to dresses and blouses.

The standouts of the show included, a glamorous monochromatic head to toe cardinal red dress with tights, and a super-sized Unicorn, tapestry, print dress.             ruffain13

The collection was glamorous with just the right amount of drama.

BRAVO boys!!
